Gangtok goes Skate Boarding!

Gangtok, 21 Jun:

Gangtok based skateboarding community ‘Skate Konnect’ in association with K-Town Skate Community, Kalimpong, organised ‘Go Skate Boarding Day’ at Kanchenjunga Complex rooftop today. The event was organized for the first time in Gangtok.

Skate jam and workshop were also part of the event. Youngsters were enlightened about the fundamental ideas and basic skills of skateboarding, beat boxing and b-boying.

“Skate Konnect is the first-of-its-kind community formed in Sikkim. It was formed a year ago with the prime motive to involve the youth of Sikkim and connect them to skateboarding thus keeping them away from any form of drug abuse and alcoholism,” said founder, Skate Konnect, Tenzing Tsundu Bhutia.

“Currently 12 members are registered in the community comprising mostly of school and college students. The community’s main intention is to connect and influence many youths and create an ecosystem for sustainable development of young fraternity in the State - healthy and away from any kind of drug abuse,” he added.
