 Gangtok, 23 Jun:

A series of mass joining programmes of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha are being held in the State with many switching to the party from Sikkim Democratic Front, an SKM press release informs.

A mass joining programme was conducted today at Chotasamdong Ward under Soreng Chakhung constituency in West Sikkim which had the presence of acting president, Kunga Nima Lepcha, working president, MP Subba, other members.

Around 300 SDF members led by CK Rana [youth vice convenor and ex-CEC of SDF] and Milan Gurung [SDF active youth] formally joined SKM, as per the release.

The new SKM members said that in more than two decades of its government, SDF has not been able to work sincerely for development of the State and alleged that SDF has not been fair in distributing schemes funded by the Central Government.

Addressing the gathering, SKM acting president, Mr Lepcha, has stated, “SDF does not have proper vision for Sikkim. What their leader wants is to retain Chief Ministership for his entire life with one point intention to make his close associates and family wealthier through commission and percentages from public works. SKM’s Sikkim centric policies are the only solution that will bring an end to SDF’s misrule.”

Similarly, 13 SDF Cheli Morcha workers guided by Rupa Thapa from Tumin Lingee constituency, East Sikkim have quit SDF and joined SKM during the ongoing Nari Ekikaran Yatra which was held at Lingee. They were welcomed by general secretary, Pabitra Bhandari, and other functionaries.

Furthermore, five families from SDF party from Tadong constituency, East Sikkim have also joined SKM during the CLC meeting held at Pani House in Gangtok. They were welcomed by Zonal vice president [incharge], Anand Lama, and party workers.

Likewise, 21 families of Poklok-Kamramg constituency, South Sikkim have left SDF and joined SKM during the CLC meet held at Poklok Kamrang.
