SIBin teachers call off protest against management

Representatives of vocational education teachers working under SIBin Group have called off their protest after receiving positive response and assurances from the SIBin Group management to fulfill their demands. Following the successful meeting with SIBin Group management on 22 Jun, they have now been directed by the management to immediately join duty in their respective schools.
It may be mentioned here, the services of 556 teachers working under SIBIN Group in different government schools of Sikkim were terminated without following an official procedure but through email. The teachers had threatened to go on an indefinite strike and also placed various demands including hike in salary, yearly increment, etc.
In a press conference held today, vocational education teachers, Vishal Ria, Feroz Gurung, Pratham Pradhan and Poonam Chettri, informed that during the meeting held on Friday, SIBin Group proprietor, Neil Chettri, assured to work on all their demands.
They stated that the post of Lab Assistant no longer exists but there are around 100 lab assistants who, it was assured in the meeting, will be absorbed in other posts.
It is informed that following their termination, representatives of the vocational education teachers had met officials of HRDD and SIBin and other authorities. A team of vocational teachers had also apprised the Chief Minister twice during his ongoing Jan Sampark Abhiyan at Mamring and Saramsa Garden and had received positive assurance from the CM.
