Research unit of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences [SMIMS], Gangtok organized two-day workshop on Good Clinical Practices at SMIMS on 22-23 Jun, a press release issued by Sikkim Manipal University informs.
Dr Chinmay Shah and Dr Manish Barvaliya from Bhavnagar Government Medical College, Gujarat, attended the event as resource persons.
Four members from Institution Ethics Committee [IEC] of STNM Hospital, Gangtok participated in the training along with IEC members and PhD supervisors of SMIMS.
Vice Chancellor, SMU, Lieutenant General Dr MD Venkatesh, in his address, said that SMU strives for excellence in research which is possible only when researchers are aware of good clinical practices.
Organizing secretary, Dr Bidita Khandelwal, who is also the Associate Dean of Research, SMIMS informed that good clinical practices provides assurance that the research results are credible and accurate, and that the rights, integrity and confidentiality of trial subjects are respected and protected.
Dean, SMIMS, Air Marshal Dr GS Joneja, assured that SMIMS will keep arranging such trainings to allow percolation of ethical research from experienced researchers to post graduate and undergraduate level students.
