TEN MINUTES TO EARTH OBSERVED IN BULBULEY CM reiterates effort to make Sikkim more green and beautif

Gangtok, 25 Jun [IPR]: The 10th phase of Ten Minutes to Earth programme was held today at Plant Conservatory in Bulbuley which was organized by the Department of Forests, Environment & Wildlife Management.

Chief Minister Pawan Chamling planted a sapling on the occasion and stressed on his endeavour to make Sikkim the most green and beautiful State in the nation. He said that plantation drives across the State should involve students and teachers alike. They should be made more aware about the environmental policies and responsibilities which each individual should abide by, he added.

Mr Chamling also directed the Mayor to transform Gangtok into a green paradise.

Instructing coverage of vacant areas with plantations, he said, “We should appreciate and give back to nature as eventually they define the purity of our existence. Sikkim has unparalleled distinction of being a State with a very high degree of political stability, a well-established example of social harmony, peace, tranquility, thus we should thrive more to bring greater laurels to the state and pace forward more with extraordinary momentum.”

The occasion also had the presence of Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary and officials from the Forest Department.
