Basketball player Nima Doma Bhutia selected for Asian Games 2018

Sikkim born basketball player, Nima Doma Bhutia has been selected to train at Indian National Camp for the upcoming 40th William Jones Cup and 18th Asian Games Jakarta 2018.

The camp is being held at Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium inBengaluru from 18 June to 23 July.

Siddharth Yonzone, mentor of Nima Doma confirmed her selection for the national camp.

She is currently in Bengaluru for the camp, he said.

Basketball Association of Sikkim general secretary, Jigmela Wazalingpa has congratulated Nima on behalf of the association.

23-year-old Nima Doma hails from Tashiding in West Sikkim. She has been a key member of the EMRS Gangyap team, winning the CBSE North East Basketball Championships several times.

After completing her schooling, she joined Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education, Gwalior to pursue a degree in Physical Education.

She has also represented Sikkim at State Women’s Basketball team for Madhya Pradesh.

The 2018 Asian Games is being held at Jakarta from 18 Aug to 02 Sept.

The William Jones Cup is annually held at Taipei, Taiwan and is scheduled to kick off next month.
