Carrying forward the effort of the United Nations aimed at strengthening action and spreading awareness about drug abuse and illegal drug trade in the world, Sikkim Bihari Jagran Manch (SBJM) and National Social Service, Sikkim Manipal University jointly organised a programme on International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking, a press release informs.
The programme, held at SMU, was attended by president, Vishva Nasha Unmulan Mission, Madhepura, Bihas Baba Ganga Das as resource person.
President, Press Club of Sikkim, Joseph Lepcha in his address said, “Before reacting to the existing problems of drugs in society we should first remove the stigma or rather stereotype we attach towards drug users. After removing that we will be able to help the society.”
The programme was also attended by SMU, NSS chief coordinator, Madan Chettri, SBJM founder, Ram Pujan and publicity secretary, Bikash Prasad.
