SCA players urge for more emphasis on women’s cricket in NE

President of Sikkim Cricket Association called on its players who have represented the State at National level tournaments for an interaction session today. More than 60 players from all districts and all age categories along with women players attended the meeting, an SCA press release informs.
During the meet, the players discussed the provision of turf wicket and practice pitches at the earliest along with coordination of regular visits of qualified coaches and support staff from National Cricket Association.
They also discussed organizing inter-district Super Leagues, exchange programmes and coaching camps for players.
Urging the authority to give more emphasis on women’s cricket, the players stressed on the required intervention of Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] for the development of North East women’s cricket.
They further urged for lengthier selection process so that the talent can be showcased in a better format.
The meeting also decided to form a players' body as per the direction of the Lodha Committee.
Likewise, Bivash Lamichhaney has been elected as president and Kikam Bhutia as general secretary of the adhoc body till the rules are framed.
The players' body has unanimously resolved that strict action should be taken against any player for indiscipline in and out of the field, participation in non-SCA tournaments where outside players and finances are involved.
President of SCA gave a positive response to all their suggestions.
The players' body thanked the president for holding the meet for the benefit of players of Sikkim. The players have pledged to support the initiatives taken by the current SCA body.
