Adhoc lecturer group objects to regularization of 19 lecturers
Gangtok, 30 Jun:
A section of around 50 adhoc lecturers have objected to the regularization of 19 adhoc lecturers.
The 19 adhoc lecturers were recently handed memorandums on their appointment as permanent lecturers. These lecturers, who have worked for more than 5 years, were appointed on the basis of them fulfilling the required criteria even though they did not pass the interviews conducted by Sikkim Public Service Commission [SPSC] recently.
However, the remaining 50 lecturers were not regularized since they did not meet the required criteria although many of them have worked for more than 15 years.
According to this group, if the regularization of the 19 lecturers is being done on compassionate grounds, then the same should apply to the rest and they should be given time to acquire the requisite qualifications.
Terming the regularization of the 19 lecturers as 'great injustice' the group has requested the authorities to either absorb all lecturers who have worked for more than 5 years irrespective of whether they fulfill the required criteria or withdraw the appointment of the 19 lecturers.
