Responsibility of the young to set things right: Bhaichung
Gangtok, 01 Jul:
Hamro Sikkim Party vice president Bhaichung Bhutia, has countered suggestions that his party was intent on changing Sikkim from good to worse.
Responding to comments made by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at the recent Janta Mela that change should be for the better and not for destruction, Mr Bhutia contended that governance in Sikkim was failing in its duty to provide for the people and was also coming up short in equipping the people to become self-reliant.
The State Government was making the people dependent on handouts and this was compromising the future of the State, he argued.
It was the duty of the young to step up and set things right when things were going so obviously wrong in the State, he said.
Mr Bhutia was at Singtam today to attend an indoor meeting with the South District Committee of Hamro Sikkim Party. The committee was formed a few days ago in Namchi.
He is in Sikkim for some days before returning to Mumbai. He is one of the football pundits roped in for the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018.
