Khangendra Mani Pradhan named for Kanchenjunga Kalam Puraskar

Senior journalist and writer, Khangendra Mani Pradhan, has been selected for the prestigious Kanchenjunga Kalam Puraskar conferred by the Press Club of Sikkim every year to celebrate exceptional service to journalism in the State.
This was decided at the executive body meeting of the Press Club of Sikkim convened here today to discuss on various agendas related to the upcoming celebration of the PCS Foundation Day on 17 July. The meeting was chaired by PCS president, Joseph Lepcha, a PCS press release informs.
The meeting discussed names proposed for the annual awards and honours presented by the PCS on the occasion of its foundation day. After a thorough discussion on various proposed names, the meeting has unanimously approved the name of senior journalist and writer, Khangendra Mani Pradhan, for the prestigious Kanchenjunga Kalam Puraskar.
Likewise, the meeting has also unanimously decided to present the Lagansheel Yuva Patrakarita Puraskar to journalist Nirmal Mangar of Sikkim Chronicle.
Senior journo, Hema Sharma, will also be felicitated by PCS for her contributions towards the development of journalism in the State on the occasion.
The PCS has also decided to start another appreciation from this foundation day to those personalities who have been working hard behind the scenes for the development of the journalism in the State.
After a thorough discussion, the meeting decided to present the token of appreciation this year to office executive, Dila Chettri, who looks after miscellaneous works at the office of Hindi daily, Anugamini.
During the meeting, various duties and responsibilities were also distributed among the executive members for the grand celebration.
