Outreach programme held to inculcate reading habit among children
Gangtok, 02 Jul:
State Central Library, Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department conducted three-day outreach programme through reading workshop to spread awareness on reading habit/reading culture at various government primary and secondary schools in and around Namchi, South Sikkim as a part of Reading Mission 2022, a press release informs.
The concluding event today had the participation of children at the District Library in Namchi wherein reading and slogan writing sessions on the theme “Reading”. Colourful slogans were pasted on the walls of the library for readers and visitors.
Books on action and adventure, short stories, comics, horror, poetry, fantasy, drama, mysteries, series and humour were offered to the participants for reading along with the introduction of children’s favourite comic series “Naruto”.
Coordinated by Officer on Special Duty, State Central Library, Sangita Bomjan, with the support of library professionals, the objective of the programme was to help public libraries reach out with its resources and its services to all so as to be an effective tool for delivering sustainable learning environment in the communities through its various community oriented programmes.
