IPS Trainee Officers from Hyderabad call on Governor

Gangtok, 06 Jul:

Governor Shriniwas Patil granted audience to a group of 15 Trainee Officers from 70 Regular Recruit [RR] of Indian Police Service, Sardar Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad at Raj Bhavan today. The group was led by Deputy Commandant, National Police Academy, Hyderabad, Sunil Kumar Payal.

A press communiqué received from Raj Bhavana informs that it was a courtesy call by the group which arrived in Sikkim on a five-day tour 'Bharat Darshan', a mandatory cultural-cum-study tour as a part of their training activity. They will be touring different parts of the State for the next two days.

During a brief interaction with the officers, the Governor enquired about their native places and their respective cadre. He also talked about the need of practical policing in the wake of various complexities evolving in the society. He extended best wishes for their future assignments and wished them a memorable stay in Sikkim.

In another engagement, newly appointed founding Vice Chancellor of Sikkim State University, Dr Gopal K Niroula [Chhetry] called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan. It was a courtesy call by Dr Niroula following his appointment.

The Governor extended best wishes for his memorable term of office at newly established Sikkim State University.
