Online electricity bill payment facility launched in Jorethang

Jorethang in South Sikkim has become the second town in the State after Gangtok where people will now be able to pay their electricity bills online through the Energy & Power Department’s website. The facility of E-service portal and release of computerized electricity bill was launched today by Power Minister, DD Bhutia, here at the office of Power & Energy Department in Jorethang.

Addressing the inaugural function, Power Minister, Mr Bhutia, congratulated the general public of Jorethang for the initiative undertaken by the State Government. He said that with the provision of the E-service facility, people will enjoy convenient payment of their electricity bills.

He urged officials to generate awareness on the same in order to ensure that consumers do not face problems while using the portal.

“The State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has always based its objectives keeping in view the development of the State. It is now the responsibility of people to assist the government in keeping up with developmental temperament of the State,” he expressed.

Principal Chief Engineer cum Secretary, E&P Department, NT Bhutia, informed that the E-service portal and release of computerized electricity bill is an effort of the department towards providing maximum service with easy process of billing for the consumers of Jorethang.

“The system will also provide accurate billing and avoid errors in the billing. It is a tool of consumer empowerment and the most convenient method of making payments and the facility will be operational from today,” he added.

Similarly, Nodal Officer, Sunil Rai, informed that one can visit the website,, and register by using the ID mentioned in the bill of the month of July and a password. A registered consumer can log in with the details, view the monthly bill and make the payment. One can use net banking, debit and credit cards of all banks to pay the bills through the website and the transaction process will be free of cost, he added.

Power Minister, Mr Bhutia, extended gratitude to the departmental officers and proprietor of SDS Solution, Sikkim, Bhawesh Pradhan, for timely implementation of the project.

On the occasion, the general public of Jorethang thanked the State Government and the Power Department for facilitating the town with the E-service and assured cooperation in spreading awareness among the general public for proper use of the portal.
