Sirijunga Yakthung Sakthim Phojumbho (SYSP), the Limboo Cultural Society, convened its first meeting in preparation for the 38th foundation of the organization coming up on 23 August. The celebration is scheduled to be hosted at the Limboo Cultural Centre here.
JRDD Deputy Director SB Mangmoo was present as the chief guest for today’s meeting accompanied by SYSP president, Sukman Limboo, panchayats, senior citizens and members of the society.
While addressing the gathering, Mr Mangmoo shared the story of the formation of SYSP and delved on its significance for the community and how it has contributed towards reinforcing the Limboo identity.
He underlined the initiative and contributions of all members of society which has kept SYSP robust and relevant.
He also shared that thanks are also due to the State Government for providing good infrastructure at Tharpu for the community and further reiterated that Mr Sukman Limboo has made substantial contributions for this society through his 15 years of serving as president and expressed hope that he continues to serve SYSP and the community in future too.
After the meeting, an open discussion was held on the subjects ranging from formation of different committees, felicitations, fund raising and preparation of the foundation day souvenir.
It was also decided that the foundation day will be celebrated over two days – 22 and 23 August.
Chief Minister Pawan Chamling is expected to attend the foundation day celebrations as chief guest. Today’s meeting was also addressed by Sukman limboo, PS Limboo and IB Limboo. The next preparatory meeting has been fixed for 29 July, it is informed.
