West District Planning Committee meets
Gyalshing, 09 Jul [IPR]:
West District Zilla Panchayat today organized a meeting on ‘District Planning Committee’ at the conference hall of Zilla Bhawan in Kyongsa, West Sikkim. The meeting was chaired by Adhakshya, Zilla Panchayat, Devika Subba, Upadhakshya, Ashok Gurung, and District Collector-cum-Sachiva, WDZP, Dr AB Karki.
Adhakshya, Ms Subba, in her address said that each person in relation to the Planning Committee should work whole heartedly and in accordance with the norms of the Government. She also stressed on making the vision of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling of a ‘Tuberculosis Free Sikkim’ successful in West district and urged all to work effectively and collectively in their respective areas.
Upadhakshya, Mr Gurung, also spoke on a similar note stating that the Standing Committee which has been formed for overseeing works for the betterment of the public should be more aware of the facilities provided by the Government and communicate the information to the public.
District Collector, Dr Karki, while addressing the gathering, said that the Zilla Panchayat of West district should emerge as number one in Sikkim and should prove to be a model for other districts to follow. He spoke strongly on the initiative of ‘Chalk and Blackboard Free’ classrooms which has already been started in the district.
He further advised the Zilla Panchayats along with the officials of line departments to work in coordination and suggested making annual achievement reports for the public to see the accomplished works in their respective areas.
During the meeting, various issues relating to the development of the district and individual areas of West Sikkim were discussed amongst the participating Zilla members.
