DC North visits Kabyer Kyong to take stock of damages caused by massive landslide


Mangan, 10 Jul:

District Collector, North, Karma R Bonpo, accompanied by Chairman, Transport Department, Pintso Lepcha, Additional District Collector [Development], Sub Divisional Magistrate, Dzongu, officials from Agriculture & Horticulture Department, Panchayats and land owners today visited Kabyer Kyong in Ruklue Ward under Lingthem/Lingdem, Upper Dzongu to take stock of the damages caused by massive landslide that had occurred in the area due to incessant rainfall.

No casualties have been reported yet. However, cardamom fields belonging to seven residents have been severely damaged by the landslide.

It is informed that the ex-gratia amount for damages as per norms will be handed over to the beneficiaries immediately after necessary verification and report from the concerned Panchayat.

Further, the DC North has requested the public of the area to remain alert and vigilant and has urged all to inform the District Administration in case of any emergencies.

The DC North along with the team inspected the ongoing 4.5 kms PMGSY road from Lingdem School to Laven, Upper Dzongu.
