MP Lok Sabha urges execution and timely completion of projects under DISHA initiative

Gangtok, 10 Jul [IPR]:

Member Parliament [Lok Sabha], PD Rai, chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee [DISHA] meeting at the conference hall of East District Zilla Panchayat in Gangtok today.

The meeting reviewed the progress of centrally sponsored projects, schemes, flagship programmes and social security schemes in terms of physical and financial achievements.

The meeting was attended by District Collector [East], Kapil Meena, Mayor, Gangtok Municipal Corporation, Shakti Singh Choudary, Adyakshya, EDZP, Samsher Bokhim, Syari MLA, Kunga Nima Lepcha, District Planning Officer, Yadav K Sharma, Zilla and Gram Panchayats members and members of DISHA.

Addressing the gathering, MP [Lok Sabha], Mr Rai, spoke on the significance of smooth and effective co-ordination between stakeholders and the State Government departments concerning the execution and timely completion of various schemes and projects formulated by the State Government in order to uplift the public.

He also inquired about the implementation and outcome of the respective Central and State flagship programmes which are currently being carried out in the East district.

Mr Rai also highlighted the need to document the outcome of these flagship programmes. He also acknowledged the substantial work carried out by the concerned governmental departments in collaboration with the Panchayats and Municipal Councils of East districts.

During the meeting, a brief presentation was presented by the concerned nodal officers of DISHA wherein various issues and queries on schemes like Smart City Mission, PMGSY, AMRUT, BRO, HRDD [Samagra Sikshya Abhiyan] and Health were raised and discussed.

Earlier, the keynote address was given by the DC [East]-cum-Member Secretary who stressed on the objectives of the meeting and highlighted on the issues regarding DISHA and its improvisation. He also urged the committee to organize meeting every quarterly and to be more aware of all the flagship schemes under Central schemes.
