Rangpo gears up for I-Day celebration

A high level organising committee for the 72nd Independence Day celebration in Rangpo, East Sikkim has been formed in a meeting held at Rangpo Tourism Information Centre today. Area MLA, Gopal Baraily, has been nominated as the chief patron of the Independence Day Celebration Committee [IDCC] 2018, a press release informs.
With Sub Divisional Police Officer, Rangpo, SR Senga, as patron of the committee, U Narayan Sharma has been appointed as president of IDCC 2018 and CB Gurung as its vice president.
The committee also has Suren Pradhan, Rajen Gurung & Chitramani Khawas as general secretaries, Himmat Rai [Municipal Executive Officer, Rangpo] & Mani Subba as joint secretaries, and Keshang D Bhutia & Pinku Prasad as cashiers.
Members in charge of publicity are Sanjay Agarwal, Pokhraj Rai & Mani Kumar Pradhan while Kishore Pradhan & Mohammad Khalid have been nominated as auditors of accounts for this year.
Likewise, a 12-member advisory committee has also been formed with members Maya Cintury [President, Rangpo Nagar Panchayat], Swaminath Prasad, Mangilal Jain, Milan Silwal, LN Pradhan, GM Gurung, Bhushan Pradhan, Beena Rai, KK Pradhan, Kalyani Pradhan and Arjun Chettri.
President, IDCC 2018, Mr Sharma has informed that more than 20 schools from the area will be participating in various events and competitions.
