UP BJP president, MN Pandey, to be the next Governor of the State

Gangtok, 10 Jul:

With Governor Srinivas Dadasahib Patil’s tenure as the Governor of Sikkim to end soon, there is a high speculation of getting new Governor within this week as the concurrence from Ministry of Home has finalised the name of new incumbent and is expected to be assigned by President within this week.

The name of Uttar Pradesh BJP President, Mahendra Nath Pandey, who is also the sitting Member of Parliament, has been finalised for next Governor of Sikkim, sources in Ministry of Home Affairs has informed Summittimes.

The Ministry has completed its all formalities and has forwarded the file for appointment of new Governor of Sikkim to Rastrapati Bhawan for Memorandum of Appointment, it is informed.

The tenure of Srinivas Patil will be ending on 13 Jul after completing his term of successful five years as Governor of Sikkim. He had taken charge as the 15th Governor of Sikkim on 20 Jul, 2013.

Mr Patil [78] was a veteran Parliamentarian and civil servant and is closely associated with Nationalist Congress headed by Sarad Pawar. He was in a cordial relation with all the political parties of Sikkim except Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee due to political reasons.
