Monks and public of Chungthang thank CM for area’s development

The monk body of Chungthang Monastery in North Sikkim along with the public and Panchayats of Chungthang have expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and his government for undertaking various developments in Chungthang Sub Division through a note of gratitude extended in a public meeting held today at the monastery.
During the programme, 22 beneficiaries were also handed over token of GCI sheets, pressure cookers and LPG connections under schemes sanctioned earlier by the CM during his meetings with monks across the State.
Today’s function was attended by Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chungthang, Subash Ghimerey, head of Chungthang Monastery, Sambuk Lama, former Zilla Adhakysha, North, Khamsoom Lepcha, monks, Panchayats and the general public.
It may be mentioned here, the newly appointed SDM Chungthang, who was Block Development Officer for Chungthang earlier, had been looking after 200 REDRH and CMRHM constructions in the area which are now almost complete. Construction of only 40 houses remains at its last phase. The public of Chungthang are exulted over recommencement of the SDM’s service.
A massive plantation drive was also conducted by the public and the monks at the monastery premises, and dustbins were also installed.
The monks of Chungthang have further passed a resolution to ban Styrofoam products for wrapping cho [Prasad] while encouraging all to use only local organic products for prasad.
