Sikkim girls in NE zone team for Inter Zonal One Day Cricket Tourney

Sikkim girls Nur Pandi Lepcha (Leg Spinner) and Songkit Lhamoo Lepcha (Wicket Keeper) have been selected to represent Northeast/Bihar Zone team in the Inter Zonal One Day Cricket Tournament to be held from 16 to 25 July at Chennai, informs a press release.
The tournament will be conducted by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) under the patronage of National Cricket Academy (NCA) as per the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) One Day matches rules.
Six teams i.e. North Zone, East Zone, West Zone, South Zone, Central Zone and Northeast/Bihar Zone, will be playing again each other in this tournament, the release mentions.
"It is a proud moment for both Sikkim and Sikkim Cricket that our players have been selected by the selectors for the Inter Zonal One Day Cricket Tournament and we are confident that our players will prove themselves in their respective roles. It is the dedication and hard work on field by these players that has been counted today. We wish them luck for the upcoming tournament," said president of Sikkim Cricket Association, Lobzang G. Tenzing.
According to the performances of the players in the Inter zonal One Day Tournament, the next batch of players will be selected to attend under-19 camp at National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
During the U-19 (Girls) Zonal Cricket Academy Camp held on 23 April to 13 May 2018, 25 talented players were selected from Northeast/Bihar zone to attend the camp. The players were selected according to their performance in the National tournament that was held at Dhanbad from 01 to 09 November 2017 conducted by BCCI.
Out of 25, four girls from Sikkim namely Nur Pandi Lepcha (Leg spinner), Songkit Lhamoo Lepcha (wicket-keeper), Neema Yanki Lepcha (medium pace bowler) and Tshering Yangdan Lepcha (batsman) were selected to attend the camp. At the end of the 21-day camp, 3 matches were held where the 25 girls were divided into 2 teams and monitored by National selector Lopamudra Banerjee along with the appointed coaches and support staff.
On the basis of the individual player’s performance in those 3 matches, 15 players were selected to represent from Northeast/Bihar Zone team of which two of Sikkim’s players Nur Pandi Lepcha (Leg Spinner) and Songkit Lhamoo Lepcha (Wicket Keeper) have been selected.
