Sikkim United, Gangtok thrashed South & West Taxi Driver Association [SWTDA], Jorethang 2-0 today at the quarter final match of the ongoing Akkar Cup Open Football Tournament in Jorethang, South Sikkim. PujanRai of SWTDA, Jorethang has been adjudged man of the match, a press release informs.
Advisor, Urban Development &Housing Department, SherHang Subba, attended the programmeas chief guest accompanied by government contractor, Dawa Bhutia, as special guest.
Addressing the event, MrSubba congratulated the organizing committee for holding the event in Jorethang and extended best wishes to the participating teams.He further announced cash prize of Rs 3,000 for the first goal scorer of today’s match, Rs 10,000 for the winner and Rs 5,000 for the runner up.
In the semi final of the tourney on 18 Jul, Dynamo FC, Darjeeling will take on United Brothers, Kalimpongfollowed by a girls’exhibition match between Jorethang and Ravangla.
It may be mentioned here, the AkkarCup Open Football Tournament is being organised byJorethang FC on the theme “Say No to Drugs”. The winner and runner up of the tourney will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 1,25,000 and Rs75,000 respectively. The final match is scheduled to be held on 21 Jul.
