STDC throws surprise birthday party for KMY yatri

Gangtok, 20 Jul:

Taking the hospitality offered by the State a step further, Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation [STDC] organised a surprise birthday party for one of the oldest pilgrims of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2018, Mandayam Anandampilly Sridhar [72], at the Tourist Guest House in Rangpo, East Sikkim on 19 Jul.

Mr Sridhar who hails from Bangalore in Karnataka completed his Kailash Mansarovar Yatra successfully in its 4th batch and had reached Gangtok on 18 Jul.

The pilgrims of the 4th batch of KMY ’18 were on their way back home to their respective States. On reaching Rangpo, STDC organised the surprise party under the direction of Chief Executive Officer, STDC, Suman Thapa, it is informed.

Mr Sridhar thanked STDC for showing such generosity through the surprise birthday celebration and for extending all the support throughout their pilgrimage.

Stressing on the pilgrims being their top priority, STDC CEO, Mr Thapa said that they wanted the pilgrims to take back with them fond memories of the State and spread the message of the State’s hospitality to their respective places.

“We have been engaged in the service of the yatris and have deputed our officers and staffs for their service through day and night. All of us are happy to help the yatris and we do not want any one of them to face any kind of problems while they are here in Sikkim,” added STDC Manager, Tejpal Pradhan.

It may be mentioned here, STDC has been tirelessly engaged in providing all kind of support to the yatris during KMYs. Every year, at least 10 groups comprising of 50 yatris each head for the KMY pilgrimage via Nathula. This year the yatra was flagged off on 16 Jun.
