Mangan, 24 Jul [IPR]:
Minister for Health Care, Human Services &Family Welfare Department, AK Ghatani, who is on a two-dayvisit to North Sikkim, inspected the ongoing construction works of the Health Acclimatization Centre at Thanguin North Sikkim today.
The centre has been funded under Border Area Development Fund and will function as an emergency relief centre for tourists and pilgrims proceeding towards Gurudongmarwhich is at an elevation of 17800ft.
Later, MrGhatani also visited the construction site of the newly sanctioned 100-beddedDistrict Hospital, newly constructed Trauma and Emergency Centre and Blood Bank in Mangan. It is informed that the Blood Bank will be the first of its kind in the State and will provide all modern amenities.
The Minister also visited the newly constructed TB Hospital which is now functioning as a temporary hospital and reviewed itsstaff position. He appreciated the efforts of the staff in keeping the hospital well maintained. Shortage of medical specialists will be addressed soon, he added.
“Since the hospital has all the amenities and infrastructure, medical specialists will be posted soon for providing services to the public,” assured MrGhatani.
Later in the evening, he also interacted with the patients admitted at the hospital. Around 30 patients were being treated at the hospital.
The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner cum Secretary, Vishal Chauhan, Director, UttamPradhan,Additional Chief Engineer, District Collector [North] and District Information Officer [North].
