Sadar PS personnel crack 2 burglary cases
Gangtok, 24 Jul:
Sadar Police Station, Gangtokhas cracked two burglary cases and arrested the accused in both cases, as per a press release.
In one of the cases, on 21 July one Karma ChodenBhutia’s rented room near Defence Hall inTadong had been broken into by unknown person who made away with 6/7 tolas of gold, cash amount of Rs 15,000-20,000 and two mobile phones [iPhone & Samsung].
On 23 Jul, plain-clothes police personnel, ConstableDhan Raj Biswakarma and Home GuardPremGiri, intercepted one Sonam Sherpa  hailing from Bhusuk in East Sikkim at Mainline Taxi Stop inDeorali as the police had received information about his involvement in the theft.The complainant’s stolen iPhone was recovered from the accused following which he was arrested and investigation to recover the other items in still under process.
The release adds that the accused Sonam Sherpa was earlier involved in a robbery case registered at Sadar PS and had been convicted by the Court. He was released from jail only a week back after completion of his jail term.
In another case, one Loden Sherpa’s residence above TNA School Gate was burgled in the intervening period of 16-18 Jul while he was away visiting his village. The unknown persons reportedly made away with Rs. 1,10,000.
The Sadar Police personnel yet again made an extensive effort to find the culprit and received information about the involvement of one Chewang Bhutia  hailing from Chongyek. The accused was tracked down at a hotel inSiliguri on 23 Jul by plain-clothes police personnel, NaikWangyal Bhutia and Constables, Karma Bhutia and SonamTopden Bhutia. A sum of Rs. 64,000 along with USD 124 and Euro 110 was recovered from his possession. He was arrested immediately and the case is under investigation.
