Health Minister launches CATCH 2018-19 for West district
Gyalshing, 26 Jul [IPR]:
Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Annual and Total Check Up for Healthy Sikkim Programme [CATCH] for the year 2018-19, under Health Care, Human Services & Family Welfare Department, was formally inaugurated by Health Minister, AK Ghatani, today at the Community Hall inGyalshing, West Sikkim.
ZillaAdhakshya, West District ZillaPanchayat, DevikaSubba, attended the event as guest of honour along with Secretary, Vishal Chauhan, and Principal Director,DrPempa T Bhutia.
Addressing the inaugural function, MrGhatani urged the public to come forward and undergo proper health checkup. He underlined the vision of Chief Minister PawanChamling toencourage healthy population in the State.
He mentioned about significant improvement in development of infrastructure, man-power and facilities provided in Sikkim since 1994.
“The State of Sikkim has come a long way since then and still more improvements are being planned and are being initiated by the State Government for its people in health and education sectors,” MrGhatani added.
He further informed that long term pending demand for provision of doctors in health centres have been resolved through recent recruitment of Medical Officers and nurses. They will be deployed in West district after required criteria and formalities are fulfilled by the selected candidates. Moreover, four specialist doctors including a Dermatologist, Orthopedist, MD Biochemistry and Medicine have already joined GyalshingDistrict Hospital, he added.
ZillaAdhakshya, WDZP, MsSubba, requested all to work in coordination towards achieving the vision of the CM to make Sikkim Tuberculosis free by 2022.
Health Secretary, MrChauhan, while addressing the gathering advised the doctors of the CATCH programme to conduct regular follow ups of patients in the district.
“The goal is to make all the districts in the State well-equipped so that patients can be treated in their own respective districts,” he added.
During the event, the Health Minister, ZillaAdhakshya, Health Secretary and Principal Director distributed health cards to the public.
Later, the Minister along with Health officials visited GyalshingDistrict Hospital and interacted with the patients and doctors.They also visited the construction site of the 50-bedded Ayush Hospital at Kyongsa.
