Workshop on Tourism for Entrepreneurship Development

Tourism for Entrepreneurship Development workshop cum interaction for tourism entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs and students was organised today at Namchi Government College by Entrepreneurs Hub and Consultation Centre, SammanBhawan.

The event was addressed by resource persons RewajChettri[Founder NE Taxi], Robin Basnet[Entrepreneur], RitezChettri[TAAS Member], BikashGadaily[TAAS Member] and SmitaRai[Founder Namchi Designer Candles].

RewajChettri spoke on his journey as an entrepreneur sharing the various challenges and scope of entrepreneurship in the state of Sikkim. He also highlighted the need for creating an entrepreneurship ecosystem in the state by young aspiring entrepreneurs of Sikkim.

He further added on how Government of Sikkim is serious about helping young aspiring entrepreneurs of Sikkim and supporting them through various schemes and policies.

Robin Basnet, an entrepreneur from Yangang spoke on the ‘dignity of labour’ which is very important for the young people in the State to understand.

RitezChettri, an entrepreneur from Turuk, South Sikkim and a TAAS member stressed on the potential of Sikkim in tourism. He highlighted the importance of sustainable tourism and the need for more youngsters to explore this sector.

BikashGadaily, an entrepreneur and also a TAAS member delivered a motivational talk and encouraged the students to follow their heart and passion.

SmitaRai, Founder, Namchi Designer Candles talked about women and entrepreneurship. She also shared her entrepreneurship journey to inspire and motivate the students.

The event was also attended AkshaySachdeva, ADGP, Law and Order as the chief guest. During his address he highlighted various aspects of public and private jobs. He spoke on various aspects of life to encourage and motivate the students of the college.

A workshop was also held where the students directly interacted with the resource persons on issues and concerns related to tourism in Sikkim and entrepreneurship.

More than 600 students along with teachers attended the event. The event was also attended by Dr. PR Poudyal[Principal], Royal Rai[Vice Principal, Namchi Government College], SammiRai[SP], Linda PalmuBhutia [ASP], Arun Kumar Thatal[SDPO Namchi] and BikashRai[Founder, GBT Entertainment] and various other guests.
