STDC and Tourism Dept participate in national NE Tourism Road Show at Chandigarh

Gangtok, 29 Jul:

Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation [STDC] and the Department of Tourism are jointly participating in the North East Tourism Road Show held at Chandigarh on 26-27 July.

The STDC was represented by its Public Relations Officer, Roji Pradhan, while Beenita Rai represented Sikkim Tourism.

Organised by the Union Ministry of Tourism Ministry, the aim of the North East Tourism Road Show was to promote North Eastern States and unveil the tourism opportunities available in the region while bridging the gap between tour operators and stakeholders.

The tourism road show also featured a business networking session wherein 60 tour operators visited the Sikkim counter and discussed possibilities of tie-ups and promotion of the State, it is informed.

The PRO, STDC has expressed gratitude towards the corporation, its CEO and Tourism Department for providing the opportunity to attend the national event and represent Sikkim at large.

“This will really benefit and give mileage to the tourism sector in the State,” said Mr Pradhan.

During the programme, the Sikkim team also interacted with the Principal and students of Dr Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Chandigarh.

It is informed that the North East Tourism Road Show is the start of promotional plans of the Ministry to promote the north eastern region as a major tourist destination of the country.

Different facets of Sikkim and other States were showcased. It also focused on tourist attractions in the Himalayas like skiing, trekking, mountaineering, river rafting, rock climbing, para-gliding, bungee jumping, etc.
