6th KMY batch completes yatra

GANGTOK, 30 Jul:

The 2018KailashMansarovarYatra via Nathula in Sikkim is on the verge of completion. As per the schedule prepared by Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, ten groups were to go on the yatra this year, out of which six batches have completed theyatra while the seventh and eighth batches are on the yatra at present.

The first batch of theKailashMansarovarYatra 2018 was flagged off here from Gangtok on 16 July. Today, the sixth batch reached Gangtok after successfully completing the yatra.

The Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation organised a special felicitation programme in honour of the KMY pilgrims this evening in a local hotel in Gangtok.

The STDC has been regularly organising such felicitation programmes to honor the yatris on the completion of their pilgrimage.

Today’s function had the presence of Secretary, Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, CP Dhakalas the chief guest.

Mr.Dhakal during his address congratulated all the yatris for successfully completing the KMY. He said that the yatris are lucky to have the opportunity go for KMY and completed the yatra successfully.The yatris were felicitated and offered mementos by the chief guest.

The sixth batch of the KMY comprised of 42 pilgrims and two Liaison Officers, Dinesh ChanderBijalwan and PradeepAgarwal.

The special function had the presence of senior manager STDC, TejpalPradhan, other officers and staff of STDC.

The function was also addressed by two LOs and two yatris who shared their experiences of the yatra.

They thanked the STDC and Sikkim Tourism for all the arrangements and services they have provided and appreciated the hospitality provided by STDC.They have said that they will visit Sikkim again in the near future.

The ninth batch will be arriving in Gangtok later this week and are completing the requiredpaperwork, health check-up, visa and other formalities in Delhi, it is informed.

The function also saw various cultural performances by a local dance group in honour of the yatris.
