SKM accuses CM of lifting SKM promises

August 1, 2018

 Gangtok, 31 Jul:

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha today alleged that Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was “stealing” SKM’s programmes and plans and taking them to the people.

Addressing a press conference here today, SKM spokesperson, Jacob Khaling, claimed that the CM has been announcing programmes of the SKM party as the elections approach closer. This, he argued, was the corruption of thoughts.

“If he is really sincere, then the CM should accept in the public that these programmes are of the SKM party,” he asserted.

He also stated that these programmes have not been mentioned in any of the election manifestos of the SDF party, but were part of SKM manifesto for 2014.

Mr Khaling stated that the CM announcement of ‘one family, one job’ was the promise of the SKM and was included in its election manifesto of 2014. He mentioned that SKM party had also posted this programme on social media.

He further alleged that nine other programmes of the SKM have been “stolen” by the SDF party president.

He claims that announcements to increase salaries of ASHA workers to Rs 10,000, grants to the state-level clubs and NGOs upto Rs 5 lakhs, establishment of the State Medical College, 90% job reservation for local in the private industrial units, regularisation of adhoc and MR employees with more than 5 years of service, rights for Sikkimese women married to outsiders, increase of maternity leave from 3 months to 6 months, establishment of the State Library and research centre and waived of loans of defaulters under the Chief Minister Self Employment Scheme, were all part of SKM’s manifesto  for  2014

While these were being announced, Mr Khaling stated that the State government has still not taken out a notification on the regularisation of adhoc employees working for more than five years despite of the announcement.

He added that the government has decided to regularise only those employees who completed five years in 2013. On the same, he stated the SKM has announced to regularise all temporary employees who have completed five years.

On the waiving of loans under the Chief Minister Self Employment Scheme, Mr Khaling urged the government to give back all documents of educated unemployed youths which had been mortgaged during loans.

He also demanded that the government should immediately take out the notification abolishing the labour contractor system and make a related law in the State Assembly. He further alleged that the government has even not taken out the notification on 90% job reservation for local in the private industrial units.

Mr Khaling advised the ruling party to copy another set of three programmes of the SKM for the welfare of people of Sikkim. He stated that CM should announce SKM’s commitment of financial support to students to take coaching camp for elite service examinations, establishment of IIT and IIM in the State and establishment of mini AIIMS in the State in the interest of local people.

He also demanded the government to provide medical reimbursement to C & D employees at par medical reimbursement being received by Secretary-level officers.

Likewise, SKM acting president, KN Lepcha stated that the copying of SKM programmes and policies shows that SDF has not ideology, principles and programmes.
