SAATHI offsite training camp
Gangtok, 31 Jul:
An offsite training camp was organized for 11 Government Schools of Sikkim at Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco-Tourism (IHCAE) in Chemchey, South Sikkim. The camp was held from 28-31 July with the participation of 115 students and 11 teachers, a press release informs.
Schools that participated in the training camp were Enchey Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Rumtek Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Westpoint Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Assamlingzey Govt. Sr. Sec. School, BiraspatiParsai Govt. Sr. Sec. School ,Phudong Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Temi Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Buriakhop Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Soreng Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Namthang Govt. Sr. Sec. School and Pelling Govt. Sr. Sec. School
During the camp, various motivational and technical sessions on substance abuse along with learning based fun and physical activities were conducted with the students. The students were trained on physical, emotional and social effects of alcohol, marijuana, tobacco, prescription and other drugs; effects of drug and alcohol abuse in education, goals and future success; andhow to say "no" to drugs in practical situations and to have a positive attitude.
The session on Medical Aspects of Drugs was taken by Dr. Davendra Singh, Life Skills by ManorathDahal(Trained Teacher Coordinator of Rumtek GSSS), Communication skills byPragyan Deep Dewan. and experience sharing by BikashBista, Teacher of Jorethang GSSS who also counseled the students about various consequences of addiction.
Other activities included team building sessions, planning sessions, meditation, nature walk/ physical training and talent hunt.
The camp successfully concluded on 31 July with pledging and badging ceremony.
