Long distance runner from Sikkim, Shiva Hang Subba,will be leaving for his debut participation in the 12 Hours Stadium Run to be held on 04-05 Aug at SreeKanteerava Stadium in Bangalore. This 12 Hours Run is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. on 04 Aug and will continue till 5 a.m. of 05 Aug.
22-year-old Shiva Hang Subba hails from Timbrong village in West Sikkim. He is a self-employed youth working in the tourism sector in West Sikkim. A student of Marathon Man of Sikkim, Amar Subba, he started running last year and has already participated in two major marathon events of Sikkim, Sikkim Run and Kanchenjunga Marathon.
“Being my first ever national competition, I am excited and nervous too. This is a tough competition and different from other marathons so my first challenge is to complete this 12 Hours Run. I have targeted to complete at least 100 KMs in 12 hours,” Shiva Hang expressed.
Apart from his regular training, he has undergone tough training for a month under his coach, Amar Subba, for this competition. As a part of training, he has covered a distance of 85 KMs in 12 hours on an uphill route in West Sikkim.
“I had given a routine to Shiva Hang Subba for training and he convinced me by sincerely and dedicatedly working on that routine. So seeing his potential and dedication, I requested the organisers to give him an opportunity in this 12 Hours Run,” said Marathon Man, MrSubba.
Shiva Hang has also thanked the organiser, Bangalore-based NEB Sports Entertainment, for giving him a chance.
He also thanked Yuksom-Tashiding MLA, SonamDadul Bhutia, for his support and also thanked all his well wishers and supporters for their constant support and encouragement to local runners.
