SIC holds sensitization programme on RTI at Rhenock College

Sikkim Information Commission [SIC] conducted sensitizationprogramme on RTI Act and Rules of 2005 at Rhenock Government College in East Sikkim on 31 Jul in the presence of SIC Deputy Secretary,AbinashRai,Principal,Rhenock Government College,DrIyatta M Uprety,along withSIC staff and students of Rhenock Government College, a press release informs.
Deputy Secretary, SIC, MrRai, gave detailed insight on the provisions of RTI Act and it’s Rules. He informed that for an organization to fall under the definition of Public Authority, the Government should own or have substantial control over the management and affairs of the organization or should be substantially financed. Private educational institutes receiving 95% of funding may fall under the definition of Public Authority, he added.
MrRai stressed that repetitive RTI applications cannot be entertained and the information seeker needs to seek the information at one go only.
RhenockCollege extended gratitude to SIC for providing in-depth analysis onRTI Act and Rule of 2005.
