First phase of Premier Division Sikkim League concludes, United Sikkim on top
GANGTOK, 06 Aug:
United Sikkim Football Club outplayed Sikkim Aakraman Football Club on Monday in the ongoing Sikkim Football Association Premier Division Sikkim-League 2018 here at Paljor Stadium. A brace by Sanjay Chettri helped the United Sikkim Football Club to register a 4-1 victory to secure three more points in the points tally of the league.
The first half was full of attacks and counter attacks but both teams failed to convert them into goals. The first half almost ended in a goalless draw until Sanjay Chettri scored the lead for the United Sikkim FC in the 44th minute.
When Sikkim Aakraman FC players were trying to equalise the game, Sanjay Chettri completed his brace to take the lead of the United Sikkim FC to 2-0 in the 66th minute and soon his teammate, KilpBarfungpa extended the lead of the team to 3-0 in the 68th minute.
A goal by BigendraRai in the 77th minute gave some hope to theAakraman team to come back into the match but another goal by TsheringZangpo in the 85th minute sealed the 4-1 victory of United Sikkim FC.
With the end of the first phase of the league, United Sikkim FC remains undefeated so far in the league with 13 points from 4 wins and 1 draw, while Sikkim Aakraman FC has 10 points from 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw.
Likewise, the State Sports Academy has 10 points, SAI Namchiand Sikkim Himalayan Sporting Club has 6 points each, Boys Club, Gangtok has 3 points, Unicorn Football Club has 1 point and Pakyong United Football Club with 0 points from 4 matches each.
The second phase of the league will begin on 17 Aug after the Independence Day Football Tournament 2018, which will be played between 08 to 15 Aug, at Paljor Stadium.
