90% of road-related demands placed during Jan Sampark Abhiyan sanctioned: CM

The 38th Foundation Day celebration of Sirijunga Yakthung Sakthim Phojumbo[SYSP] organized by Limboo Cultural Society was celebrated with grandeur at Tharpu in West Sikkim today in the presence of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling as chief guest.

Also present were Minister of Human Resource Development Department, RB Subba, Minister of Urban Development & Housing Department, NK Subba, Minister of Health & IPR Departments, AK Ghatani, Minister of Roads & Bridges, GM Gurung, and Minister of Rural Management & Development Department, SB Subedi.

The CM, in his address, spoke on SYSP being a cultural fort for the entire State of Sikkim working for cultural fortification and preservation. He thanked the Limboo Cultural Society for putting up a show wherein all cultures of Sikkim were showcased.

“Humans are one in nature. Caste, race, religion and other such external entities should not separate us in anyway. As one of the quotes by Abraham Lincoln says, ‘All men are created equal’, hence one should ponder upon that deeply,” said Mr Chamling.

He stated that there should be ‘balanced development’ where society should be responsible towards each and every right they get in the State. He mentioned that the State and its citizens should be responsible towards self and towards the State as well.

The CM urged the youth to be positive in their thinking and highlighted on the importance of positive thinking and outlook in viewing their lives.

He asked the youth to be more productive, competitive and creative and advised them to take the opportunities provided by the State, learn to understand their potential and make their individual futures bright.

He further stressed that the Sikkimese citizens should be retrospective in their view of how the government has been pro-public and pro-development of the public. He also informed the public present that the United Nations and countries of the modern world have been positive on how Sikkim has adopted Organic Farming. He also mentioned that it is a proud moment for every Sikkimese that the world is following what Sikkim has done.

He also notified that up to 90% of all road-related demands placed by the public during his 32-daylong tour have been sanctioned. Similarly, other demands will be sanctioned by 15 Sept, he added.

The CM was felicitated by Sukhim Yakthung Sapsok Saplon Chumbho[SYSSC] for his contribution and positive support towards the Limboo community of Sikkim.

The programme also featured cultural performances presented by various cultural groups of Sikkim, felicitations of various dignitaries for their individual contribution towards SYSP and launching of books and music CD.

The function also had the presence of Yuksom MLA, Sonam Dadul Bhutia,Tashiding MLA, KS Lepcha, Daramdin MLA, DN Sherpa, Yangthang MLA, Chandra Maya Subba, Zilla Adhyaksha, Devika Subba, Zilla Up-Adhyaksha, Ashok Gurung, District Collector [West], Dr AB Karki, Superintendent of Police [West], Tenzing Loden Lepcha, Advisors, District Officials and other dignitaries.
