Foot over bridge for Tadong School inaugurated

Gangtok, 28 Aug:

A Pedestrian Foot Over Bridge constructed under AMRUT at Tadong Bazaar in East Sikkim was inaugurated by the Minister for Urban Development & Housing Department, NK Subba, this morning.

This was a much-required foot over bridge mainly for the safety of students of Tadong Senior Secondary School to cross the National Highway. Several accidents had occurred in this area in the past involving students crossing the National Highway and has been a long pending demand of the people of the area mainly for the safety of Tadong SSS students.

The over bridge was constructed at the cost of Rs 1.96 crore including other allied works in the area.

UDHD DE, Anil Chettri, informed that the project includes a 20 meter span MS steel foot over bridge, around 300 meters long jhora training and other allied works. He informed that the work of foot over ridge started in 2016 but due to land issues, the project took around two years to complete.

Meanwhile, he further informed that around 70% of the work on a similar foot over bridge for students of Tashi Namgyal Academy in front of the school gate there has been completed and DPR for such a facility at Holy Cross School gate has also been prepared and examination of land was under process.
