Gangtok, 29 Aug:
A four-day workshop on “Extension Skills for Implementation of Major Agricultural Development Schemes” is currently underway at the SAMETI Training Hall here at Tadong.
The workshop, which began on 28 August, is being organized by the Extension Education Institute (NE Region), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, AAU Jorhat, Assam, in coordination with SAMETI.
Around 30 Assistant Technology Mangers (ATMs) under District ATMAs from all four districts are taking part in the workshop.
The resource persons are Dr. AK Bhattacharyya, Professor EEI, AAU, Jorhat, and H Das, Research Assistant, EEI, AAU, Jorhat
The workshop began with a welcome speech by Ushnata Priya Thapa, Gender Coordinator, SAMETI. Welcoming the Resource Persons and the participants, Ms Thapa mentioned that since EEI, AAU, was one of the most prestigious universities in providing extension trainings and workshops and urged the participant to take full advantage of the workshop and disseminate the lessons taught at the field level.
Dr. Bhattacharyya mentioned that the training was proposed at the Regional Meeting by Sikkim State at Imphal earlier this year.
The four day programme will be followed by technical sessions.
