First Rashmi Prasad Alley Memorial Award on 31 Aug


GANGTOK, 29 Aug:

The recently constituted Sikkim PragyaPratisthan is all set to host a grand programme to markBhasaManyataDiwas and the conferment of First Rashmi Prasad Alley Memorial Award on 31 Aug.

In order to remember, understand and pay homage to various contributions made by Late Rashmi Prasad Alley towards the development and conservation of Nepali Language in Sikkim, the Pratisthan has decided to confer the award in his name.

The first Rashmi Prasad Alley Puraskar will be conferred upon renowned literary figure, KN Sharma.

The programme was scheduled to be held on 20 Aug on the occasion of BhasaManyataDiwas but due to the demise of the former Prime Minister AtalBihari Vajpayee, the function was rescheduled for 31 Aug.

The first Rashmi Prasad Alley award will be conferred by the chief guest of the function, Chief Minister, PawanChamling.

The function, to be held at the Manan Kendra in Gangtok, will have various cultural performances,GeetGunjan by local artists and some other artists.

Local artists like Ganesh Dhungel, Nikita Cintury, SrijanaShilal, SushilaRai, Dinesh Dahal and others will be performing during the function.

A panel discussion will also be held during the programme.

General secretary of Sikkim PragyaPratisthan, PuranTamang has said that Nepali Language is one of the important languages in the state which is used mostly by all and it also connects all communitieson one platform.

BhasaManyataDiwas is a very important occasion and everyone should celebrate the day, he said further adding that all members of the Pratisthan are working hard to make the event a successful one.
