Five-daytraining programme for 50 elementary teachers of West district that had commenced on 27 Aug concluded today here at the conference hall of District Institute of Education and Training [DIET] in Gyalshing, West Sikkim. In this connection, a valedictory function of the aforesaid training programme was alsoorganised today, a press release informs.
Additional Director, Human Resource Development Department, West, Eden T Bhutia, attended the valedictory function today as chief guest accompanied by Principal of Kyongsha Government Senior Secondary School, SusmaSubba, as guest of honour.
Principal, DIET Gyalshing, OP Ghatani, informed that the training covered various topics like Corporal Punishment as per NCPCR guidelines, POCSO, Mental Health and Inclusive Education. Different guest resource persons were also invited from concerned departments for the programme, he added.
Additional Director, HRDD West, Ms Bhutia, in her address said, “21st century is the age of information. We have to implement it and come out with effective results. In teaching profession, we must be genuine.”
Emphasizing on the POCSO Act, she urged all to take a pledge to make the schools of West district free from crime against minors. She further added that due to mental health issues like depression, many teachers are taking voluntarily retirement on which proper research needs to be undertaken.
The valedictory function concluded with the distribution of certificates to all 50 participants.
