NIT Sikkim students carry out peaceful rally

Gangtok, 01 Sept:

Students of National Institute of Technology, Sikkim carried out a peaceful rally from NIT Sikkim campus to Ralong Road in South Sikkim on 31 Aug to express dissatisfaction over the recent meeting held between State Human Resource Development Department and Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

A press release informs that the said meeting has once again given mere assurance for a permanent campus for the institute. The rally was attended by over 800 students who have been protesting peacefully since the past month.

Students echoed slogans like #WeWantPermanentCampus # NoMoreDelay, ‘Ham HamaraHaqMaangte,Nahi Kisi Se BhikhMaangte’.

The rally concluded peacefully in the presence of RavanglaPolice personnel.

The NIT Sikkim students have appealed to everyone to support their cause.

Further, Director of NIT Sikkim has calleda meeting with the protesting students and has urged them to attend their classes. However, the students refused to do soand have decided to continue their protest.
