Gangtok, 04 Sept:
All district bodies and the central executive body of Sikkim Cricket Association [SCA] called on to Chief Minister PawanChamlingat Mintokgang in Gangtok today. President of SCA apprised the CM of the works done by SCA since Jan 2016. The important aspects were forming district associations, organizing camp before BCCI, school tournaments, talent hunt programmes, ensuring transparency and conducting regular meetings of SCA, a press release informs.
During the meet, the CM also launched the official website of Sikkim Cricket Association www.sikkimcricket.com.
The SCA president thanked the CM for granting lease of Mining Cricket Ground in Rangpo, East Sikkim since 2002 where Indian cricketing icons like Mahinder Singh Dhoni, LaxmiRatanSukla and ManojTewari have played U-19 matches in the past.
In Aug 2018, SCA became full member of BCCI and due to that now Sikkim will be playing in 14 different BCCI premium tournaments at National level. BCCI has recently sanctioned funds for developing Mining Cricket Ground, the release adds.
The CM was apprised of the players and support staff getting opportunities. Players and support staff will be get professional fee amounting to approximately around Rs 6.5 crore in total this coming season and BCCI will be spending over Rs5 crore for their travel and logistics, it was informed.
The release further states that Mining Cricket Ground lease will now be extended for another 40 years.
The CM has assured to extend all support for developing cricket in Sikkim as he expressed satisfaction overthe activities of SCA in developing cricket in Sikkim.
