Minerva Punjab FC conducts football trials at NPS

I-League 2017-18 Champions, Minerva Punjab Football Club, in collaboration with South District Football Association and Namchi Public School [NPS] conducted trials for budding footballers in Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 18 categories at the football field of NPS in South Sikkim on 02-03 Sep, a press release informs.

More than 1000 footballers from across Sikkim, Darjeeling and Kalimpong came for the trials along with their coaches and parents. The budding footballers showcased their skills in friendly matches in the presence of head coach of Minerva Punjab FC, Harpreet Singh, and his assistant, S Pradhan.

The two coaches also presented tips to the players to improve their skills and assured to visit next year again for more trials.

The coaches selected many footballers under all four categories. The selected players will be travelling to Chandigarh for the final trials and from there on will join their football academy.

Eight players among the selected ones were from NPSfootball team.

Principal of NPS, Rev Fr George A D’Souza, congratulated the selected players and theircoach, Alen Tshering Bhutia.

Earlier, NPS’ ‘CD’ Division Boys’football team had won the ARCEIS Inter-School ‘CD’ Division Football Tournament 2018 held in St Joseph’s School in Rhenock, East Sikkim. Team NPSdefeated St Xavier’s School, Pakyong by 2-1 goals in the finals. Both the goals were scored by Birash Rai, the release adds.
