Gangtok, 06 Sept:
A delegation of Retired Employees Welfare Association [REWA], Tadong, led by its president, Kuber Chandra Dahal, called on Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on 04 Sept. The association congratulated the CM becoming the longest serving Chief Minister of India, a press release informs.
The release adds that the CM has accepted the association’s proposal pertaining to their welfare and the society as a whole and has assured to extend all possible help from the State Government.
The CM has also agreed to the proposal made by the association with regard to the celebration of a state-level World Senior Citizens’ Day.
The association will be observing World Senior Citizen Day on 01 Oct and will be felicitating retired government employees above the age of 80 years and elderly people above 80 years who have made a significant contributions to the society.
The association has appealed to all GPUs, Zilla Panchayats, NGOs, area MLAs and Ministers to cooperate with the association in short-listing names for the felicitation programme and send their nominations to the association along with age proof documents and two passport size photographs.
The release also informs that the CM has said that the State Government will form a board for the welfare of senior citizens and multi-facility rest house for the elderly people in the state while assuring introduction of pensioners’ health insurance plan.
