GANGTOK, 05 SEPT:
Karishma Pradhan, one of the first female models from Sikkim has made a comeback of sorts in the fashion and entertainment industry as a judge in the first Temi Tea Mr Sikkim Manhunt.
In the past she has won the prestigious Miss Tilotama, one of the biggest pageants of East India along with a body of work in modelling. She has also worked in music videos.
In conversation with Summit Times, Karishma tells us more.
ST: What made you take keen interest in modelling?
Karishma: Like many young girls I was attracted to the glamour industry from a very young age. When I saw an ad for Mr and Miss Pune while I was doing my graduation I knew I had to take a chance and apply. This experience gave me a thrust towards the industry and here I am today.
How was the experience participating in Miss Tilotama?
Miss Tilotama was a life changing experience with gruelling and exhaustive grooming sessions. It was one of the toughest times for me mentally and physically. The organisers made sure the contestants were groomed to an exceptional level so that we would carry on the legacy in years to come.
What were you doing these past few years?
I took a sabbatical for a couple of years as I wanted to pursue and complete my MBA.
What made you join the judges panel for Mr Sikkim?
Mr. Sikkim Manhunt is a first of its kind platform where the boys from across the state are groomed for National level competitions. Being associated with state level pageants is an honour and a great outlet to identify the talents in our state.
How was your experience judging contestants?
I was elated to see such huge array of talents under one roof and was pleasantly surprised to see the consistency throughout the audition. I am very happy to see the budding talents of the state and look forward to seeing the evolution of each one.
You juggle between your passion for modelling and entrepreneurship, how will you walk that tight rope?
I love doing what I am doing at the moment so it makes it easier to juggle both.
What is your message to contestants eagerly awaiting results?
Be patient, practise hard, great things take time, be very loyal towards your passion and pursue it with all the zeal and enthusiasm you can muster. Try to evolve into a better version of yourself and always remember your biggest competition should be ‘you’. All the best for all of your future endeavours.
