Book donation drive to get the young reading


Singtam, 16 Sept:

Aiming to encourage and inspire reading-habit among students in the 6-16 age group, a book donation campaign was held here at the Rangpo Bazar today by the Cluster Resource Centre of Namphing Secondary School, South Sikkim.

This is the second such book donation campaign with the earlier one held at Singtam last year.

The concept was mooted by Deputy Director HRDD, Namchi, DB Subba, and supported by Government Primary School, Rekape, South Sikkim, Government JHS Mangley Simchuthang Secondary School and class X batch of 1994-95 of Bermoik Tokal Senior Secondary School.

Rangpo Nagar Panchayat president, Maya Chintury, was present as chief guest today accompanied by Mr DB Subba as special guest, Principal Mr Rival of Bermoik Tokal SSS, AEO HRDD, Headmasters and Principals from various school who also donated books.

A total of 60 people donated books at today's event.

The donated books will be sorted and distributed to all the school of Bermoik and Namphing area, informs Arjun Chettri, Headmaster, Rekape Primary School.
