Himali Pratibhas selected in grand finale

Gangtok, 15 Sept:

The grand finale of talent-hunt program, Himali Pratibha ko Khoj Season-2, organised by the cultural wing of Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), was held in the capital on Saturday.

In dancing, Amrita Rai secured first position followed by Samir Tamang and Soni Hangma Subba securing second and third positions. Likewise, in singing, Nihal Ramudamu stood first followed by Anju Tamang and Babita Thapa in second and third positions.

GM Gurung, Minister, Roads & Bridges Dept was present as chief guest, accompanied by a plethora of guests and judges, including Rajesh Thapa, General Manager, Nepal Rashtriya Naachghar, noted singers Shanti Thatal, Shiva Bahadur Moktan and Thupden Bhutia along with dignitaries from different walks of life.

It was informed that over 700 contestants auditioned for the talent hunt in singing and dancing categories.

Five finalists in singing and dancing each competed for the top spot.

The top three were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 1.50 lakh, Rs One lakh and Rs 50,000.

The fourth and fifth positions will be getting consolation prizes of Rs 20,000 each.

Program also paid a singing tribute to the late Amber Gurung with a musical presentation.

This was followed by felicitation to legendary singer of Nepali music, Shanti Thathal which was accompanied by a musical performance in her tribute.

Another felicitation was also given to Nisha Rasaily and Tara Dhakal, dancers who are in Sikkim after winning a national dance reality television show.

Singer Remanti Rai’s new music was also launched by the chief guest during the program which the singer followed up with a musical performance.

The organisers informed that such programs is not just to give a platform to the local artists but also to boost their morale towards a more positive outlook for all round development.

They also informed that the program has been a huge success back to back and hoped to give continuation in future.
