Massive restoration works undertaken by BRO in North district


Gangtok, 18 Sept:

The 758 Border Road Task Force [BRTF] under Project Swastik has undertaken massive restoration works to enable speedy connectivity between Rangrang and Toong areas of North Sikkim. Under the guidance of Chief Engineer, Project Swastik, Harender Kumar, the Task Force has swiftly mobilized heavy equipments including hydraulic excavators, JCBs and Dozer within 24 hrs of calamity, a press release informs.

As informed by 758 BRTF Commander, Colonel IM Singh, the works are presently being undertaken from three points - Rangrang, Rafang Khola and Ritchu. While the route from Ranrang to Ambithang and Ritchu to Rafang Khola was opened within 48 hrs, the route from Ambithang to Rafang Khola will also be operative within the next 24 hrs.

The last stretch from Toong where the bridge has been washed off will be tackled thereafter. This route is likely to open in the next 3-4 days, the release adds.
