Refresher course in journalism at Soochna Bhawan


Gangtok, 18 Sept:

Minister for Information & Public Relations Department, AK Ghatani, inaugurated a three-day long refresher training on journalism in the presence of Secretary, IPR Department, S Shenga, and Director, Tashi Chophel, here at the conference hall of Soochna Bhawan in Gangtok on 17 Sept.

The workshop is being organized by the IPR Department for officers of the department and journalists from print, electronic and digital media.

Director, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Odisha, Professor Mrinal Chatterjee, and President, Press Club of Kolkata, Snehasis Sur, are the two resource persons for the training.

The IPR Minister extended gratitude to the resource persons for providing their valuable time for the benefit of media fraternity of the State and the departmental staff and sharing their expertise.

He added that the training programme will help the participants refresh their knowledge on various aspects of media which have undergone noteworthy changes in the recent past and urged the participants to take utmost benefit of the opportunity.

In the first session of the workshop, Mr Sur highlighted topics like finding news points and techniques of writing an informative press release.

The next session had Mr Chatterjee addressing writing skill enhancement while giving out various assignments to the participants.

On the second day of the workshop today, Mr Chatterjee highlighted development stories and interpreting data in journalism.

Likewise, Mr Sur spoke about video journalism, video news releases and photography.
