4 dead, 3 injured in two accidents

Kalimpong, 21 Sept:

Four people have died and three injured in two different accidents that occurred on 19 Sept and 20 Sept.

The first accident occurred on the evening of 19 Sept at SorengTeesta Valley under RangliRangliot division in Darjeeling wherein a truck bearing no WB 73 E 1706 while turning a sharp bend turned over killing three labourers from Chapra, Uttar Dinajuron the spot. The deceased have been identified as Arifal Islam [24], Hafiz Rahman [19] and Osman Gani [18]. The dead bodies have been sent for post mortem at Kalimpong District Hospital. The truck was returning from Takling to Teesta.

In another accident that took place on 20 Sept, one pick up vehicle fell approximately 1000 ftbelow the road at BirikDaraalong NH 10 wherein BikramShyabai, the helper of the driver was killed on the spot. Himalayan Highway Disaster Management Society along with Riyang Police recovered the body and sent it for post mortem at North Bengal Medical College inSiliguri. Police informed that the accused driver has absconded from the scene.
